Mexican archers win silver & bronze

Mexico added two more medals to its tally at the London 2012 Olympic Games on Thursday, winning silver and bronze in the women’s individual archery.

Aida Roman tied 5-5 with South Korea’s Ki Bo Bae in the final, but had to settle for silver after losing the ensuing shoot-out. Mariana Avita beat the United States’ Khatuna Lorig in the third-place match to claim the bronze medal.

Roman, 24, from Mexico City, and Avita, 18, from Monterrey, won gold together in the team event at the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games.

In total Mexico now has three silver medals and one bronze.
