Curse of the Dark Knight continues
Alarms rang out when a fire broke out around 1.30 a.m. at Cinepolis in the Grand Plaza shopping mall, disrupting three midnight screenings of the highly anticipated Batman film, which premiered that night in Mexico. The fire began in a trash can, but caused no injuries or material damage, Cinepolis reported.
The incident came exactly a week after a masked gunman opened fire on the audience at a movie theatre in Aurora in the early hours of July 20, killing 12 people and injuring 58 others. James Eagan Holmes, 24, was arrested minutes afterwards and is now awaiting trial.
Yet another “Dark Knight”-related incident took place in Chihuahua early on Monday morning, when an armed assailant dressed as Batman threatened staff and stole 210,000 pesos from cash registers in Cinepolis and Cinemex outlets in the state capital.
