Guadalajara leads the world with free public Wi-Fi
Available 24 hours a day in over 125 parks and public places, the “GDL Libre” municipal wireless network can be accessed for free by anyone with a laptop, tablet or smartphone.
Implemented by former Guadalajara Mayor and Jalisco’s Governor-elect Aristoteles Sandoval, the network advances the futuristic concept of internet access as a human right. Many cities around the world offer some form of paid or restricted wireless internet service, but few have such extensive free networks as that now found in Guadalajara.
Some of the Wi-Fi connected parks and plazas provide tables for more comfortable use of devices.
To find your nearest free Wi-Fi hotspot, view a map of all the locations across Guadalajara and check router status or report failures, visit http://www.gdllibre.com. It’s easy to navigate and requires minimal Spanish.
