Happy Birthday!
Feliz cumpleaños! Everyone’s favourite Mexico-themed blog The Tequila Files is two years old today and hasn’t the time just flown right by?
In the 731 days since kicking off with a lovely off-topic post on Spurs’ Champions League exploits on March 10, 2011, this blog has received 66,258 hits from at least 163 different countries.
The average number of hits per day has risen solidly, from a measly 21 in 2011 to a decent 125 in 2012 and a current average of 203 so far this year.
During this time I’ve written 490 posts, at a solid average of 0.67 per day.
The news inevitably gets a little heavy at times thanks to Mexico’s well publicised problems with drug violence and its staggeringly corrupt politicians and institutions, but this is a wonderful country and I’ve always sought to balance the more negative coverage with plenty of stories on Mexico’s amazing cultural richness and natural diversity (see the Arts, Food & Drink, Sport and Travel pages).
The Tequila Files will be taking a two-month break in the near future, but fear not as it’ll be back before you know it.
Cheers for reading everyone.
Oh and special thanks to my 111 subscribers. As if clogging up your inboxes with a constant stream of news on tequila and drug-related killings wasn’t bad enough, you’ve also been force-fed my occasionally self-indulgent posts on The Stone Roses (here and here) and Tottenham Hotspur (here, here and here).
Duncan: Nicely done and congrats on 2 years ! I for one really appreciate your feeds and the time/effort it takes to prepare them.
Have a well-deserved rest, Duncan. But be sure to come back. We need you!
