Police in Jalisco discover truckload of pot

Federal police arrested a man driving a truck laden with over a ton of marijuana in northern Jalisco this week.

The suspected was stopped on the Guadalajara-Colotlan highway near the town of San Cristobal de la Barranca.

Upon inspecting his vehicle, which was loaded with groceries, the officers uncovered a hidden compartment filled with 1,215 kilos of marijuana in the form of 243 packages each weighing five kilos. The driver, now in police custody, said he was driving to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
