Guadalajara aims to boost profile through Pan American Games

Next month thousands of sports fans from all over the western hemisphere will flock to Guadalajara to attend the biggest multi-sports event of the year: the 2011 Pan American Games.

Organizers hope that staging the games, which take place October 14-30, will bring Guadalajara greater international recognition, just as the 2008 Beijing Olympics did for China.
